Cafe Do Brasil is located right in the heart of the midtown renaissance and right across the street from the revitalized Plaza Court building. The restaurant is located in a white Spanish-Mission style building ( which formerly housed a funeral home) and is open Tuesday through Friday for lunch and dinner and also for brunch on Saturday and Sunday mornings. This place is no stranger to those tied into the OKC restaurant scene. It has been written up in most of our major local publications.
Café do Brasil was founded in 1994, by Ana Davis and her brother Mario Paixao under the name “More than Muffins” previously located in the Victoria Building. In 1998 Mario decided to step out of the restaurant business, leaving Ana as a sole-proprietor. She rapidly changed the direction of More than Muffins, by changing the name to Café do Brasil and started introducing some of her native cuisine, which was greatly accepted by the guests.
In 2005 Ana & her husband, Larry Davis a prominent immigration attorney in the city decided to expand the business and move to our current location at 440 N.W. 11th , opening in Nov. 2005 with an authentic and exquisite Brazilian Menu.
Ana has traveled to Brazil many times and trained under several chefs in different regions in Brazil. She is very involved in the daily activities of the restaurant, making sure that all operations meet her high standards. She was born and raised in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, which is located in the southeast part of the country, north of Sao Paulo and east of Rio de Janeiro.
As an outcome of different newspaper and T.V reviews Café do Brazil has acquired a very reputable presence in the market. It was chosen as the “Best Latin Restaurant of OKC” in 2009.
In 2006, Ana teamed up for “The Cuisine of the Americas” with Rick Bayless (One of the most respectable chefs in the U.S) for a fundraise at the restaurant for KCSC a public radio station.
In 2007 Ana was nominated with the Journal Record “A woman of the Year” due to all her contribution and dedication to the community.
The fresh, cooked-to-order menu at Café do Brazil features a broad selection of appetizers, salads, entrees, sandwiches and desserts. Moderately priced and open for lunch and dinner 6 days a week, the restaurant has two different menus and an additional and unique brunch menu which is served on Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 A.M to 2:30 P.M. with generously portioned menu items.
The Mural that we have on the back wall represents the Christ Redeemer Statue located in Rio de Janeiro, which has recently been chosen as one of the seven modern wonders in the world.
The yellow and green on the walls represent the colors of the Brazilian Flag.
Cafe do Brasil will be opening its Catering & Private Parties facility by December 2009, located in the same building on the first floor. We are looking forward to providing our special guest our magic at smaller celebratory events, and orchestrate everything from quiet business dinners or luncheons to carnaval fiestas for several people.
